PHACO 360° WORKSHOP
Before we operate on a human eye, we must be thoroughly prepared.
Skill, confidence and precision are built through structured training.
For an eye surgeon, a PHACO Wetlab is a vital step in that journey.
With this vision, the idea of the PHACO 360┬░ WORKSHOP was born and
successfully conducted on 21st February 2026
at Amita Eye Care, Thiruvalla, with participation from
PG doctors across Kerala.
The event was inaugurated by KSOS President Dr. Rajiv Sukumaran.
The welcome note was delivered by Dr. Priyanka Thilak,
Senior Consultant at Amita Eye Care and Secretary, OSP.
The PG Update Program began with a session on the importance of Wetlab
training and an overview of the program by
Dr. Amita Verghese, Director, Amita Eye Care.
A detailed talk on Phacodynamics and video-assisted skill transfer was
delivered by Dr. Aaditya Ganesh Joshi, Senior Phacosurgeon.
Round-table presentations covered Pre-operative Evaluation and Patient
Selection by Dr. Priya Verghese.
Biometrics was presented by Dr. Jesna Rachel Varghese,
while OVDs and IOLs were discussed by Dr. Geethu S.
The Wetlab was arranged by J&J and Alcon,
and the Dry Lab was conducted using the Kitaro kit.
Special thanks to Dr. Ann Tresa Antony and
Dr. Gopisree Nair for their guidance.
The workshop was enriched by the encouragement of
OSP President Dr. Cheriyan Shane Mathew, and the presence
of Dr. Sara Ansa Renosh, District Representative to KSOS.
We sincerely thank all the participants who travelled from across the
state, making this workshop impactful and memorable.
